The eReader - A Different Point of View
As the eBook battle intensifies, companies are coming out with sleeker models with more bells and whistles. In the midst of all this is Intel. Not exactly known as a consumer products company, Intel's Reader is several stops short of sexy. And at $1,499 (2009 price), it's expensive! What sets it apart is that it solves a problem for a special market segment. The Intel Reader allows visually impaired users to scan printed material (books, magazines, newspapers, etc.) and then reads it back to them. The technology and concept are spot on, but there is debate on how easy it is to use for the visually impaired. Still, it's a start.
