Best Buy retreats from iPad cannibalization claim

After reading the post about Apple's iPad and Netbook Sales, I kept thinking the relationship among laptop, netbook and iPad.

Although Brian Dunn, CEO of Best Buy, told The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday that internal estimates showed that iPad had cannibalized sales from laptop PCs by as much as 50%, he now declares that the claim was a bit exaggerated. (http://news.cnet.com/8301-31021_3-20016895-260.html?tag=mncol;txt)

From the stand point of a consumer, I think it is possible that iPads or other tablet PCs cannnibalize netbook sales because they are mainly used for similar purpose: checking email and net surfing. Compared to the netbook, iPad is ligher and provide longer stand-by time. However, netbook has other features that iPad doesn't have, such as support FLASH and USB.

So, I think iPads would affect the sales of netbooks but won't influence the sales of notebooks.
