  1. I think this speaks to Facebook's strategy as an extension of it's design.

    Unlike Google, searching for information on FB is exceedingly difficult (in my experience). A few reasons why:

    -Barrier for users to collect details on other users

    -Promote aimless 'surfing', increasing time spent on site per user

    -Create a (false) sense of 'privacy' that postings eventually move into a black hole, giving incentive for users to 'over-share' personal data with little repercussion.

    I completely agree with your comments about searching. I still think there is a great deal of work that needs to be done in making facebook more intuitive and easy to work with. I've always wonder why it's so difficult to search on FB...maybe you're right in that it's by design.
