Sour Gr-Apps

Jim Balsille, co-CEO of RIM, recently sat down at the web2.0 Summit and discussed some of the issues he has with Apple and the role of apps in mobile connections to the internet. "You don't need an app for the web." He argues that while there is a role for apps, you can use your existing content assets and tools to enable mobile web delivery.

  1. Although RIM might have missed the opportunity, Nokia is looking at new ways to selecting apps for their phones.

In fact, in addition to focusing their efforts on a flagship product, their new strategy is making apps a priority and is (finally?) looking towards 3rd party developers for new ideas. Instead of chasing after the more popular apps, they are trying to look for those that are more localized for the individual user.
